Minnehaha Democrats Honor the 149th Anniversary of the Battle of the Little Big Horn

June 25th is the 149th anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

This battle was a significant victory for the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho peoples against General Custer and the U.S. Army’s 7th Cavalry. It serves as a reminder of the generational pains and conflicts caused by Westward expansion, and the systemic injustices that Indigenous faced – and and continue to face.

Minnehaha Democrats deeply honor the resilience, strength, and enduring spirit of the Native American peoples who fought to protect their lands, cultures, and ways of life. MCDP will continue to stand committed in support of Indigenous sovereignty 

and justice.
