Minnehaha County Democratic Party Statement on the shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Minnehaha County Democratic Party released the following statement following the news that Charlie Kirk, a high-profile right-wing political commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot at Utah Valley University and remains in critical condition.

“We’ve had our fair share of disagreements with Charlie Kirk. Nonetheless, we remain adamantly opposed to political violence against those of any ideology.

The ongoing events at Utah State – alongside the context of the shooting at Evergreen High School in Denver, at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, the assassination of Minnesota Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, and so many more, further highlights the need for action to finally end the gun violence epidemic.

Our hearts are with all of those that have been affected by gun violence. Enough is enough.”
